THIS PROFILE SHORTER NEEDS BE.
I've been drawing manga-style so long that I have difficulty doing it any other way, for better or worse.
I believe in "art for art's sake"; when a story is an allegory, it's annoying, and when art is allegorical, it's just plain old pretentious. That's all there is to it.
My project Sword of Heaven is "superflat": basically, a commentary on all the stuff that bugs me about manga these days- how common it is, the unreasonably popular "antihero samurai" genre, the terminology and language used, the random Japanese thrown in when it's written by English-speaking artists, etc. It's basically a comic with all the stuff I love and hate about manga.
I try not to take myself too seriously; I like to think I have a pretty good sense of humor.
I love cartoons- mostly the ones on Adult Swim, those rock. And stuff like that, I guess. I never pass up a good comedy, and I absolutely adore kung fu movies, no matter how cheesy they are.
I'm also a total music nerd. Enough said.
And as far as realism in comics goes, well, you can take realism and shove it.
Like my stuff? Fave it!
