I still consider myself to be rather new at comic makeing, but am always trying to improve!
Constructive critisism is welcome!
The comic that I am currently working on is After Lily, which is a cheerful comic about the ghost of a young girl who wants to become a Grim Reaper, and how her job as an assistant to one of the Grims helps her learn about life. I am currently drawing inspiration for this comic from Petshop of Horrors, Kino's Journey, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When they Cry), Haibane Renmei, American Beauty, Ameli, and various other movies/anime.
I find that I work best when I take overused character stereotypes, ie. the happy girl (Karen from Ruins) and then take them to their extreme.
That could be the end of it, and the story could exsist as a simple parody.
But, since I'm writing it, and since I secretly have a very twisted mind, after a while, it begins to go deeper, and darker.
It is only then that we see just how much an overused character can still have to hide.
It is unbelievably fun to do this.
